Supercomputer fluid dynamics research highlighted by Interesting Engineering

Ken Jansen

Ken Jansen's research analyzing airflow around commercial aircraft to inform the design of next-generation planes is spotlighted in a new article from Interesting Engineering.听

The work is utilizing an exascale system operated by the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory.

Jansen, a professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences, is an expert in computational mechanics and fluid dynamics.

鈥淭hese simulations help improve the predictive models that are applied to even more complex cases, such as capturing the flow physics around a full vertical tail and rudder assembly of an aircraft at full flight scale,鈥 he said.
