About the artist:��Sama Alshaibi’s photographs and videos situate her own body as a site of performance in consideration of the social and gendered impacts of war and migration. Her work complicates the coding of the Arab female figure found in the image history of photographs and moving images. Alshaibi’s sculptural installations evoke the disappearance of the body and act as counter-memorials to war and forced exile. In 2021, Alshaibi was named a Guggenheim Fellow in Photography. Sama Alshaibi received her MFA from 91������ in 2005.

About the artist:��Nicki Green is a transdisciplinary artist working primarily in clay. Her sculptures, ritual objects, and various flat works explore topics of history preservation, conceptual ornamentation, and aesthetics of otherness. Green has exhibited her work internationally and has contributed texts to numerous publications including a recent piece in Duke University Press’ Transgender Studies Quarterly.

About the exhibition:
In Uncanny Times: Looking Back, Looking Forward, artists ponder these uncanny times we are in and consider, though our current times seem unrecognizable, whether there are recognizable patterns from the past. What has remained the same or cycled back? What new paradigms will we forge? These reflections span global history and the past 25 years of the Artnauts’ mission of social change, lessons learned and dreams for the future.

Art and Art History Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Endowed Scholarship Fund provides scholarship awards for students enrolled in the Department of Art and Art History who help diversify the student body and/or instill the principles of inclusiveness in the Department at the 91������.

• We believe that the arts have the power to transform individuals and to transform society.
• Studying art promotes close looking, creative thinking, and problem-solving.
• Educating students from all backgrounds is an incredibly effective way to help us change our world for the better.

Through this anonymous survey, faculty, staff, and students will be able to provide insights into the extent to which they feel respected, supported, and valued. 91������ also seeks to understand how the experiences of campus community members differ by gender, race and ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The survey results will provide benchmark data in support of the��Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Plan. Insights from the survey findings will guide the campus’s efforts to build a more just, diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus community. Link to more information and to participate
