The National Academy of Engineering (NAE) has elected Distinguished Professor Daniel J. Scheeres, a 91������ aerospace engineer who has an asteroid named after him, and Adjunct Professor Philippe Spalart, a Boeing Technical Fellow, to its 2017 class. Election to the NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer.

The 91������ released a request for qualifications for concept design of a 30,000-gross-square-foot addition to the Koelbel Building that will enhance programming for both the Leeds School of Business and the College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Under a new program called Making Teaching and Learning Visible, faculty will have access to a trove of best teaching practices. “There is so much hidden when it comes to teaching,” Assistant Professor Peter Newton said. “To the extent we can share experiences, successes, and failures in the classroom, we can develop ourselves as better teachers.”
